IRA Gifts: A Great Way to Protect the Lake!
Gifts from your individual retirement account (IRA) can be a great way to help the Lake Champlain Land Trust and save taxes while satisfying your Required Minimum Distribution.
By giving from your IRA, you can reduce your tax burden, and know that you are contributing to local conservation efforts in a significant way. Individuals age 70½ and older can donate any amount up to $105,000 directly to the Lake Champlain Land Trust from their IRAs without the gift being treated as taxable income, and the gift can be used as your Required Minimum Distribution.
When choosing an IRA gift, there is one critical detail to keep in mind—your plan administrator must issue the check directly to the Lake Champlain Land Trust. For more information about IRA gifts and the associated tax benefits, consult your plan administrator or tax professional. For a list of tax-savvy donation methods, or to donate online, visit www.LCLT.org and click “Ways to Give.”
