Rock Island in Panton, VT is a very small island (less than 0.5 acres) in Lake Champlain that provides critical habitat for migratory neotropical birds and nesting waterfowl. Fishing and picnicking are permitted on the island. In order to protect nesting birds, please do not climb to the top of the island’s bluffs during the spring months (April thorough June).
Please note: It is best to visit Rock Island in the late summer or early fall when lake levels are usually lowest. During this time, the island’s rocky shoals are exposed, providing paddlers with a perfect landing spot.
